That's right! You read that title correctly. This company as literally if not purposely rip-off WOW down to the icons in the game. The UI is exactly the same, the graphics are exactly the same, the spells are practically the same, hell even the talent trees are the same.

You'll notice that the website even looks similar to WOW's website. http://www.alganon.com

If you think I'm lying or have gone insane, please I urge you to take a look at the game yourself. Below I will provide you some details and information to further prove how much this game resembles WOW.

NOTE: I seriously expect Blizzard to sue these people.

I never EVER expected someone to copy WOW quite literally like these people did. This is obvious plagarism!

----------------------

This is a blog that explains the game and it's similarities. Just scroll down to the bottom and he has pictures of comparison between both games. It's a good read if you have the time.

The storyline called 'The Dawning' is a direct rip-off of the Cataclysm storyline. http://www.alganon.com/world-evolution

Look at these picture and please don't tell me it doesn't remotely look like WOW.

Look at the name of the location he is in the (exact copy of the WOW minimap). Also take a look at his unit frames.

BEST ONE YET: This is a picture of their skill book. My god they even copied the book icon on the upper left hand corner.

This is a picture of their map, which looks exactly like WOW's with the same dropdowns in the same location.

This is a picture of their Dalaran looking and FLOATING (yes floating) city.

This video is GREAT at demonstrating how much this game has ripped-off WOW. (Recommended watch)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fqa_dNOCksQ

They have zones such as Blackrock, Shatterhand, and Zul'something, you know they're ripping off wow.

Coming Soon to a rip-off near you
Alganon: The Luring Charade..
Alganon: Laugh of the Rich King...
Alganon: Capitolism

They have mobs that look exactly like races and monsters in WOW. (Literally, like they took the models and slightly modified them). The graphics are similar to WOW and because they didn't have time the rest of the stuff is just sloppy and quickly done.

The classes aren't similar to WOW, BUT HOLD THE PRESS. They did say they are releasing more classes and races 'very' soon. Don't be all too shocked when they fill in the rest of the missing gaps with similar WOW classes.

This is a picture of their character creation screen and selection screen. WOW RIP-OFF

This is a picture of the QUEST and SKILL window. You can also notice several similar stuff in this picture.

DEAR GOD... Look at their quest tracker in this picture on the right.
http://ammonlauritzen.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/alganon-melee.jpg

Yes they even have a WOW Armory rip-off that looks exactly the same. NO JOKE. All they did was change some of the pictures and colors around. (Example)

Finally, here is another blog that has some great info on the game and how it directly copied WOW.

Message: Word is they also have an achievement panel or system and that the window looks exactly like the one in WOW. The only problem is that currently it's not completely incorporated.

PVP is scheduled to be released in an expansion in 2010.

Message: Blizzard suggests MMO devs quit copying World of Warcraft

QUOTE:
World of Warcraft is the most successful pay-to-play MMO out there, so it stands to reason that other developers would want to imitate Blizzard's cash cow in hopes of dethroning the MMO giant. The trend, thus far, seems to be cloning.

Well, that's really not going to work, according to Blizzard. Lead producer Shane Dabiri took it upon himself to clear up this misconception in a recent interview:

"There are a lot of people that try to emulate World of Warcraft - and as flattering as that is our end it's definitely not the right move. I know that World of Warcraft is very successful, and so people think if they were to make another game just like it they could somehow capture that audience. However, I don't think that's what players are looking for.

"Players that have invested time in WOW don't just want to do the same thing in other game - they want to try something completely new and different."

Instead of just copying what works and hoping for the best, Dabiri explains developers should try their hand at "innovative new MMOs" that try something, such as City of Heroes, which he notes isn't just another fantasy game. Then again, going the non-fantasy route doesn't guarantee success -- Tabula Rasa, anyone?

Message: LOL after a TERRIBLE launch and with a subscriber base of roughly 400 subscribers, Quest Online has decided to change Alganon from a pay-to-play game to FREE subscription. That's right the game did so poorly that they realized it would be best to make it F2P (Free to Play). This is hilarious! I knew this was going to happen. It was obvious considering the enormous bad rep this game got. Only a very few people actually defend this game and even then their are blinded by the reality. This game is a WOW rip-off clear and simple. It was a companies attempt to steal some of the cash flow from WOW by releasing a similar product. Well guess what it blew up in their faces.

Will they get some money back from all the investments by changing to F2P is questionable. Though I seriously doubt the investors have any type of faith anymore in the product.

Message: Also they are adding Micro-Transactions to get some of their money back. I love the maintenance pay to keep a mount. According to the forums and what they wrote it works like this.

1) You pay money to get tribute points.
2) You waste tribute points to obtain a mount.
3) A mount is leased to you for a certain amount of time.
4) Your mount CAN go inactive if you don't pay a maintenance upkeep in tribute points.
5) Your mount is inactive and you must waste more real money to buy tribute points to reactivate it.
6) You must continue to pay tribute points to maintain the lease on the mount.

This basically results in a continuous cash flow for the company. If more people do this plus purchase other items and services, then technically they are getting a subscription fee from people basically.

This is how micro-transactions have shaped F2P MMORPG's. Many MMORPGS that use micro-transactions are actually extremely successful.

Makes you wonder why we pay to play World of Warcraft. Although it seems that Blizzard is trying to slowly introduce micro-transactions with their blizzard store.

Message: Blizzard store? Oh god Blizzard. Don't do it! I don't want my D3 or SC2 or future MMO experience to be plagued by people who call me a newb because they spent a bajillion dollars on shop items and I didn't. I get enough newb calling at work.

Message: It was some stupid ignorant moron who immediately used the old 'WOW' copied everything routine. You have to be some sort of ignorant moron to not realize that all MMORPG's are pretty much similar.

However, that's not what this thread is about. This thread is about the deliberate and LITERAL copying of the WOW Interface. People have hacked the Alganon interface and have found WOW interface files and even an exact duplicate of the achievement frame. There is no where in this thread where I mentioned WOW and it's similarity with other MMORPG's.
